A stop by Neal’s Yard Dairy should never be overlooked during a visit to London’s famous Borough Market. Here, cheese fanatics and casual shoppers alike can taste and buy the finest Red Leicester, Stilton and Cheddar cheeses in the Kingdom, among countless other varieties, all simply and beautifully presented in a style that reminds one of a small dairy or farm. Fans can also visit the original Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden. Founded there in the late 70s, the dairy developed under the watch of passionate cheese makers, first Nicholas Saunders and later Randolph Hodgson. Today it is among the finest and best-presented cheese vendors in the world, in part owing to the UK’s hygiene regulations allowing the “uncaged” display of cheeses – and thus also their aroma. Rejoice! Our particular favourite is the Childwickbury goat’s cheese, perfectly matched with oatmeal crackers and pear mustard.
